will rock for food

WILL ROCK FOR FOOD was born out of the knowledge that food pantries are neglected during the summer months before the holiday drives, making it even more difficult for them to meet the additional needs of families whose children are out of school for the summer & eating at home (where there is no federal free/reduced lunch program).

To date, we've raised over $3000 as well as collecting over 700 pounds of canned goods at our 2004, 2005, & 2006 benefit shows. In addition to collecting money at the door, we also sell compilation CDs & t-shirts; all merchandise is currently available at Vintage Vinyl, with all proceeds going to the St. Louis Area Foodbank from now until the end of time.

PAST SHOWS

Will Rock For Food III: This Time, It's Personal

On June 24, 2006, The Focal Point in downtown Maplewood played host to our third Will Rock For Food show, which featured performances by Gentleman Auction House, The Aquatic Record, Corbeta Corbata, The Monads, & Johnny O & the Jerks. We collected over 200 pounds of canned goods & collected just over $900, all of which, as usual, went to the St. Louis Area Foodbank. Besides continuing to sell our back catalog of compilation CDs, this year's Will Rock For Food disc contained a mind-blowing TWENTY-FOUR tracks from local artists Commichung, The Monads, Corbeta Corbata, The Adversary Workers, Tin Tree Factory, The Pubes, Bunnygrunt, Something Something & the Sewin' Sos, The Unholy Effers, The Pat Sajak Assassins, Johnny O & the Jerks, I Like the Future & the Future Likes Me, The Aquatic Record, Strawfoot, The Vultures, Dancing Feet March to War, Nneteen, bear cub, The Floating City, Ryne Watts, Tok, Adhamh Roland, Thee Dirty South, & Casey Reid w/Tomko.

Will Rock For Food II: The Rockening

Our second Will Rock For Food show on August 05, 2005, included the debut of The Aquatic Record (then called Sian's Steel-Chested Rabbit Arcade), one of the final public appearances of The Okay Club, a rare set by Shut Up & Drive, & performances by Fance, Adam's Off Ox, Tok, & The Unholy Effers. We collected 212 pounds of canned goods at the door & wrote another check to the St. Louis Area Foodbank for $875. In addition to a second compilation CD, which featured tracks by Galaxy Rock Meats William, The Sex Robots, Commichung, Anna Roland, Tin Tree Factory, The Front, The Trip Daddys, & most performing acts, we continued to sell from our stash of remaining 2004 comps as well as our vastly reduced inventory of Will Rock For Food t-shirts.

Will Rock For Food

The 2004 show on June 19 included performances by DJ Leon Lamont, Tin Tree Factory, Fance, The Monads, Village Idiot, The Phoney Moaners, Tok, Galaxy Rock Meats William, & Adam's Off Ox. The compilation CD included tracks from Stendek, Commichung, ResistAll, Shut Up & Drive, Anna Roland, Johnny Saint & the HellRazors, The Whole Sick Crew, & The Trip Daddys, in addition to all performing artists. Food & money combined, we were able to donate a grand total of 8,723 pounds of food, which provided 5,816 meals. Additionally, CDs & shirts continue to sell surprisingly well at at Vintage Vinyl in the Loop.
