NEWS: 05.27.04 we really ARE media moguls (dude i'm not kidding this time); an unofficial shindig so ok you guys, GET THIS -- the monads garnered some unsolicited (& extremely positive) press from the RFT in an article by Niles Baranowski called The Bands of Summer. just you TRY to tell me that's not the neatest thing since sliced bread. WAIT YOU CAN'T -- oh SNAP. in other news, there's gonna be a crazy-ass gathering at the st peters steak'n'shake following the Adam's Off Ox/Fance show at sally t's tomorrow night, so just resign yourself to sharing a plate of fries with me post-kicking it, oldskool, at sally's. come on, party people! wave your hands in the air, wave 'em like you don't care, etc. you know, change is in the air, people. we are singlehandedly changing the world through sheer force of will, single-minded dedication to local music, & milkshakes. who's with me?
NEWS: 05.22.04 rock'n'roll is for YOU, too; animal control can't find their asses with both hands jesus, just b/c i don't update you on every little thing for a week, you think i don't put in the hours? WHATEVER, JERKS. here is what i did this week, all for YOU, my little pumpkins, yes, YOU: * scoured my hard drive & the internet for photos to use in the MHR yearbook in compilation news, we have tracks from EVERY SINGLE ARTIST except one (miss r, i'm looking in your direction! xoxo!), & the big news is that we're probably getting a new track from the trip daddys, too, which leaves me doing the fangirl hop-&-squee!, b/c, HELLOOOOO, it's the trip daddys! ideally, the CD will go out to Mr. The Whitenoise & his partner-in-crime for mastering at the end of next week, & then do you know what that means? OH YES, THE DUPING CAN BEGIN! finally, just so everyone's up to speed, you should know that we're plotting out the summer release dates for albums from Commichung, Adam's Off Ox, Tin Tree Factory, & Fance, so check back (same bat time, same bat channel) (hork!) for more news on MHR's psycho-busy summer schedule.
NEWS: 05.13.04 Mr. The Whitenoise, websites, & things that flap wildly in the night what can we talk about? BIRTHDAYS, first of all. why? b/c, FOOL, today is J-to-the-A-to-the-M-I-E's birthday! happy birthday to MHR's favorite Sound Stud! in other news, blah blah, i spent yesterday chained to the computer creating the 'Hood's own electronic photo album & updating the Will Rock For Food informational page & working my fingers TO THE BONE for you people, oh, & there's a bat in my house. as the kids say these days, WTF.
NEWS: 05.08.04 faux-Q&A-style totally abused; post-postmodernists take umbrage Q: hey, i've been hearing rumors that the 'Hood has added another band to their stable of up-&-coming, avant-garde, cutting-edge-&-dare-i-say-SUPER-SCENESTER bands; is this true? A: it totally is! Q: & what, pray tell, is the name of your latest acquisition? A: sisters & brothers, we've just officially agreed to release Fance's new record in early july -- yeah, that's july of the '04, we've got it going on. Q: whoa, you guys sure know how to put a lot on your plate, don't you? A: absolutely -- that's why we're the media moguls & you're the ones sitting around at your office jobs surreptitiously reading this update WHEN YOU SHOULD BE WORKING, YOU LAZY SCHLUBS. Q: hey, speaking of working, what's this las vegas thing all about? is it true that you skipped three days of work, drove out to las vegas with the inimitable Stendek, & flew back to st louis on thursday, accidentally leaving him there? A: that was no accident, kids -- his jet-setting rock'n'roll lifestyle has taken him back to the flash & sizzle (& strip malls & tract housing) of las vegas for the time being; i merely jumped on the opportunity to see a part of the country i'd never seen before, & if that meant skipping out on three days of work, well, so be it. Q: so what's the story with Will Rock For Food? A: i'm glad you asked! as of rightnowthissecond, i have brand new, never-before-released tracks from the following artists queued up in my iTunes: Adam's Off Ox, Commichung, Galaxy Rock Meats William, The Monads, The Phoney Moaners, Shut Up & Drive, Tin Tree Factory, Tok, & Village Idiot. Q: how hard do you guys rule? A: SO HARD. duh.
NEWS: 05.05.04 who said world domination was an arduous process? hello, my little porkchops one & all, that's right, the big news is that the monads are the #3 artist in the entire punk section at vintage vinyl -- how's that for selling power? & they said it was a bad business decision! OOOH BURN, NAYSAYERS. yeah, that's right, YOU WERE JUST TOLD.
